- Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE)
- FIDE is the French acronym for the World Chess Federation. The site includes news of FIDE-rated tournaments and recorded games.
National
- The United States Chess Federation (USCF)
- The organizing body for chess in the United States. Membership includes a monthly magazine, opportunity to play rated games, and a discount on chess products.
Regional
- The Washington Chess Federation (WCF)
- The organizing body for chess in the state of Washington. Membership includes a monthly magazine and the opportunity to play rated games.
Chess News and Games
- Chessville
- A web site dedicated to teaching the game of chess via tactical and strategical instruction, analysis of master games, and reporting of grandmaster events. Written
specifically for the "amateur" chess player, the site is pertinent for all chess players. Includes links to other sites, product reviews, and a "chess mall."
- ChessFM
- The official web site for listening to either recorded or live chess events. (Requires Microsoft's Media Player, link included.)
- Chess Lab
- A two-million interactive chess game database available for reviewing and downloading games in .pgn format.
It moreover now provides an online gaming center for chess and other games.
- Chess Cafe
- Updated chess news, book reviews, and game reviews, written by renown chess masters; also chess products and bulletin board.
- The University of Pittsburg Chess Club
- Contains an extensive archive of downloadable chess games and lessons for .pgn, ChessBase, Chess Assistant, and other formats; and much more.
- Northwest Chess
- Monthly magazine available to members of the Washington Chess Federation (WCF), which includes tournament and equipment
advertisements and regional chess game articles.
- Seattle Chess Club
- Updated Website for the Seattle Chess Club.

- Updated Website for the Portland Chess Club.

- ChessBase
- Website for purchasing ChessBase database programs and chess playing programs such as Fritz and Junior, the highest rated programs in the world. Moreover, it has chess news and other training products.
- Chess Assistant
- Chess Assitant database program and chess playing program, software programs for training, commented games section, and online "chess university."
- Ebay
- "The World's Online Marketplace": Often overlooked, this site is your best opportunity to obtain new chess sets for half of their retail value. Manufacturers, retailers, and owners often sell their high-quality sets at bargain prices. A site not to be overlooked by the experienced online shopper or chess set collector. Site also sells almost anything chess related.
- The United States Chess Federation (USCF)
- For USCF members, the prices are hard to beat and the selection has been increased to include some House of Staunton sets. The online store sells clocks, sets, boards, books, tournament director necessities, scoresheets, equipment bags, and much more: one of the largest stores on the internet for chess equipment.
- The House of Staunton (HOS)
- The famous online store for purchasing exquisitely made chess sets and chessboards of the highest quality. Second in name only to Jaques, the House of Staunton (HOS) sets really surpass Jaques in design and aesthetic beauty; however, the higher-end designs and sizes can cost between $800 and $1200.
- Your Move Chess & Games
- Renown for its fast shipping and large chess set collection, this website sells some of the most innovative Staunton and non-Staunton chess sets as well as chessboards, books, and software.
- BK Chess
- A good site for chess sets, chessboards, chess tables, software, and clocks. They also sell sets on Ebay.
- The Best Chess Tables
- One of the only sites available where the discerning buyer can purchase specialty and custom-made chess tables with matching chairs.
- Chessplayer
- Published by 1994 US Open Champion and International Master (IM) Georgi Orlov, this online store sells sets, books, software, and instruction.
- Chessmate
- Local chess store (Seattle area) for selling a special selection of books and chess sets and boards, and software.
- Legend Products
- Oregon Chess Store with its own patented chess design, exclusively made by a "master carver." Their uniquely-designed Staunton sets are heavily weighted and made with the highest quality of wood. They also sell chessboards and storage bags for their equipment.
- Internet Chess Club (ICC)
- The internationally popular pay site for online chess. It offers a variable interface.
- Pogo by EA.com
- A free online site for playing chess and many other games. Has a large following of international chess players and a decent interface.
- Yahoo Games
- Probably the largest site on the internet for playing chess online, and it's free; however, the interface isn't as good as most other websites.
- International E-mail Chess Club (IECC)
- One of the major web sites for playing in e-mail chess tournaments and matches, including archives of all rated games in downloadable .pgn format.
